2. Do Now: Freewrite  List 5 things you do each day to demonstrate self-reliance and practicality.

3. Objectives:  The students will be able to plan a concluding paragraph by using the question/bullet form.  The students will be able to write one concluding paragraph of 5-7 sentences in length using specific nouns, verbs and adjectives.

4. Focus Lesson: Conclusions  Review of Intro. Paragraphs  Concluding Paragraphs 1. List the topic. 2. List the things you learned as a result of writing/research. 3. List what you want your audience to learn, why they should learn it. In other words, convince the audience that your thesis statement is true and the implications it might have on their lives. 4. Transform steps #2 and #3 into sentences.  Demonstration: drafting a concluding paragraph about being a great American.  Independent Practice: complete steps #1-#3 in the conclusion section of the essay plan.

5. Homework: Conclusions  Transform you bullet point notes into a draft concluding paragraph.  Due Friday, October 23 in lab.
