www.annasiracusa.coursesites.com “Presentations with 50 or so words per slide serve as a teleprompter” (Duarte, 2008). If the presentation will serve as a teleprompter, then you may have more information that could also serve as a “take-away” for learners. However, there is more to consider with this style of presenting. “The audience may perceive such presenters as slow, as the audience reads ahead and has to wait for the presenter to catch up” (Duarte, 2008). Proceed with caution with this style of presenting. Again, with this style, utilizing the notes feature in PowerPoint is a good approach to also creating learner handouts. Question One: Yes! 42
www.annasiracusa.coursesites.com Question Twenty: Most definitely! Start Over The two most important questions to ask yourself before you start designing a presentation is who is the presentation for and how will you be presenting. First, who will your audience be? What grade are they in? What level are they professionally? What are the skill levels? These pieces of information will determine how you design the presentation. It’s pretty simple actually. You wouldn’t want to have child-like imagery for a professional training presentation and sophisticated imagery wouldn’t work well for a presentation for grade school children. Second, how will you use your presentation? Will you be speaking and presenting, will the presentation be printed as a learning guide or will you create a PowerPoint show for individual learning? The answer to this question will determine how to proceed.
