3 Credit mobility  International opening of Erasmus, grants for students (all levels, all disciplines, between 3-12 months) and for staff (teaching or retraining, from 5 days to 2 months)  Implemented within the Erasmus quality framework (Erasmus Charter for Higher Education, Inter-institutional agreements between hosting and sending institutions, learning agreements)  Action managed by National agencies in Europe and the university in Europe will apply on behalf of the university/ies in the partner country  16 to 24 months to organise the mobility  Vector of internationalisation, increases quality of education, impacts personal development and employability, structures impact on universities, reform catalyst 3

4 Erasmus Mundus Joint Master degrees  Continuation of Erasmus Mundus Master Courses  Excellent Joint Master courses offered by consortia of HEIs from Programme and Partner Countries to attract best students worldwide through high level scholarships  An integrated study programme, fully recognised in the countries participating will be offered  Requires study in at least two of the programme countries represented in the consortium and can last 12-18-24 months (60 – 90 – 120 ECTS)  Leads to the award of a double, multiple or joint degree to all successful students 4

5 Erasmus Mundus Joint Master degrees (II)  Awards full-study scholarships for students across the world  Funding for three annual intakes of students and guest lecturers covering total costs of students scholarships and annual flat-rate fee for management and guest academic costs  Higher Education institutions from all countries present here can apply to be part of the consortium running the programme  2015 selection includes institutions from South Africa, Egypt and Senegal as full partners  Encourage your best students and young staff to apply for scholarships with any of the 116 Master courses currently running. 7 Erasmus Mundus Joint Master degrees (III)  The former Erasmus Mundus Joint Doctorate programmes are now covered by the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (under the ITN action) but doctoral candidates can still apply to the running programmes until 2017.  Encourage your best doctoral candidates to apply for scholarships with any of the 29 joint doctoral programmes currently running. 8 Capacity building in higher education Build capacity and help modernise higher education institutions in Partner Countries, to ensure a structural, long-lasting impact Support modernisation & internationalisation Improve quality of higher education institutions and systems Improve the level of competences and skills Enhance management, governance in HEIs Promote people-to-people contacts, intercultural understanding Voluntary convergence with EU HE policy developments  Structural Projects: Reforms at national level with the support of the authorities in the Partner Countries (policy modernisation, Bologna-type policies, governance and management of higher education systems…)  Joint Projects: New curricula, joint degrees, learning and teaching methodologies, staff development, quality assurance, governance, transparency tools 8

11 Jean Monnet actions Project grants to promote excellence through: Teaching and research (Modules, Chairs, Centres of Excellence) Policy debate with academic world (Networks, Projects) Support to activities of institutions or associations Objectives: focus on EU studies to promote excellence in teaching and research on the European integration process in various disciplines Currently, there are Jean Monnet chairs in Morocco, Cabo Verde and at the University of Pretoria http://eacea.ec.europa.eu/erasmus-plus/actions/jean-monnet_en11

12 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA): objectives  Under Horizon 2020, support excellence in research with top-quality international, intersectoral and interdisciplinary training to foster innovation skills  Develop the careers of 65 000 researchers between 2014 and 2020, including 25 000 PhD candidates  3 actions are widely open to individuals and institutions from across the world: Innovative Training Networks (ITN), Individual Fellowships (IF) and Research and Innovation Staff Exchange (RISE) http://ec.europa.eu/research/participants/portal http://ec.europa.eu/msca/12
