2 Remember this ? 1984 - Nokia’s Mobira Talkman Weighing just under 5 kg and one of the world’s first transportable phones (even if it you needed a car to carry and charge it) this model caused quite a stir. Many were skeptical, but sales boomed and the cynics were silenced. 1988 - Ericsson Hotline Pure 80s brilliance, everything from the neon orange details down to the font. With a weight of 4 kg this is exactly the type of phone that would have been used by executive types in the 80s. 1989 Motorola MicroTAC The Motorola MicroTAC was a mobile phone first manufactured as an analog phone in 1989. The MicroTAC introduced an innovative new flip design, where the mouthpiece folded over the keypad. The model sold for between US$2,495 and US $3,495. 1993 - Communicator - BellSouth Simon We are getting closer to a “modern” mobile phone as this just about fitted into one hand… granted, you needed particularly large hands. This was the first phone with PDA features 1998 - Nokia 5110 One of the first phones to feature the game snake. It was also one of the first phones with a replaceable faceplate, allowing users to customize their mobile. 2002 - Blackberry 6230 Phone, email, SMS, browser and organizer applications are all included in the BlackBerry 6230. 2007 - Apple iPhone The world's first multi touchscreen phone. Several hundred people camped outside the Apple store awaiting the release. 2007 - Nokia N95 One of the most feature-filled phones to date,camera, GPS, Wifi, 3G, MP3 player, bluetooth, flash, RSS, Java, Tv out to name a few.
