What is Mechanical Engineering? Mechanical Engineering is one of the oldest disciplines of engineering that we know of. Mechanical engineering uses principles of energy, materials, and mechanics to design and manufacture machines and devices of all sorts. In pretty much any device that moves or has moving parts, such as gears, there was a mechanical engineer involved. Mechanical engineers create the processes and systems that allow technology and industry to prosper.

Required Training To be a successful Mechanical engineer you must have…. High school diploma with a full background on math and science A bachelor degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited institution. Work experience under the supervision of a licensed engineer. A licensure stating that you are professional engineer.

Skills/Characteristics required Mechanical engineers usually have a fascination for things that move; cars, planes, space crafts, roller coasters etc.. Anyone who works as a mechanical engineer must be good with math and science. Mechanical engineers must be able to be good at putting parts together and making them move with one another. Mechanical engineers must have good visualizing skills. Mechanical engineers must be good at putting things together; the smallest piece could make the biggest difference.

Typical Wages as an Engineer

Mechanical Engineering The projected growth for mechanical engineering is at 20% from 2012 to 2022. This growth is well over average.

Professional Associations Some professional associations that deal with Mechanical engineering include, but are not restricted to…. American Society of Mechanical Engineers Institution of Mechanical Engineers Society of Automotive Engineers Society of Manufacturing Engineers
