Today’s Task – Make Your Animal! 1.Pick the animal that you want to use for the main part of the body. 2.Click on the head and tail links and select your animal. 3.Use the “Snipping Tool” to copy and paste into Microsoft Word.

Today’s Task – Describe Your Animal! Combine the key words that you used to describe the head, body and tail of your animal. Sample Paragraph Its head looks like a friendly cat with brown and black stripes, short whiskers, beady eyes, and short pointed ears. Its body is white and shaggy like a frayed white carpet, and it has long, skinny legs. The tail of the animal is quite special. It is the Candy Darter’s tail! It is mainly gray and fluffy, but it has fiery red, long spots on it. Additionally, it has red, grey and white multi colored spots and lines that lead to the end.

Today’s Task – Research Your Animal’s Possible Habitat! USE WORLD BOOK ONLINE – see my Teacher Page for the link! 1.Type in the name of each type of animal you used. Find out where in the world this animal lives and in what kinds of climates. You may want to use a 3 columned chart to record your info. in your notebook.. 2.Based on your research, decide on ONE habitat that you think your animal would survive in and find out more information about that particular habitat. EXAMPLES: temperature, landscape, other types of animals that live there, challenges within the environment, etc. OscelotDogCandy Darter

Today’s Task – Describe the habitat! The Candy Crushumble originates from the United States, specifically West Virginia. It roams near the Kanawha River because it loves the water. In fact, it has the uncanny ability to swim. However, because of its lack of gills, it can not submerge itself underwater for long periods of time. It makes its home on land. One can find it nesting under large, shady trees, for its shag-like fur attracts the heat easily. This animal moves swiftly over the lush grasslands of Alberta – its stride is known to cover five feet at a time. The Candy Crushumble’s ability to navigate on land and in water makes it quite unique. Researched Information West Virginia, Alberta Grasslands, Kanawha River, and loves to swim Fabricated Information Ability to swim, attracts heat (based on description of animal), nests under trees, and moves swiftly (based on description of animal)

Today’s Task – Research Your Animal’s Food Source and Behavior! USE WORLD BOOK ONLINE – see my Teacher Page for the link! 1.Based off of the habitat that you have selected, find out what your animal's source of food is. Research what it eats and how/where it hunts EXAMPLES: specific plants/animals they eat (herbivore/carnivore), hunts during day/night, hunts alone/in packs, food from ground, water, trees, etc. 1.Based off of the habitat that you have selected, find out your animal behavior, Research predators they may have, how/if they interact with other animals, and how your animal would react in danger. EXAMPLES: specific predators they have (animals that eat your animal), are they a loner or are they friendly with other species, do they climb trees, run fast to get away, camouflage to blend in, etc.

Today’s Task – Describe food source! The Candy Crushumble often preys on animals smaller than itself. It stalks out its food during the night time. For example, rabbits, squirrels, and anteaters serve as tasty treats for this unique carnivore. The Candy Crushumble is a secretive animal; therefore, it likes to hunt on its own instead of with others of its kind. It primarily gets food from the ground, but, since it likes to swim as well, consuming a few fish here and there is not out of the ordinary. Most information is from the Oscelot. Do not use information from all three, unless it makes sense!

Today’s Task – Describe the behavior! Due to its small size, the Candy Crushumble has many predators. The stripes on its face help to aide in hiding from predators, creating some camouflage. The bright tail often gives this animal away to larger carnivores. Therefore, if the animal were ever in danger, crouching down low or climbing up a tree would help to save its life. Jaguars, pumas, and even eagles love to feast on the Candy Crushumble. Unfortunately, the fur on its head is also wanted often by humans. The Candy Crushumble is a sweet creature that gets along well with other animals, as long as it is not feeding time.

Today’s Task – Describe how you created the animal!! The name of the new species is Candy Crushunmble. It is made from the DNA of an Old English Mastiff, an Ocelot, and a Candy Darter. First, I sheared the coat off of an Old English Mastiff. Secondly, I plucked fifteen hairs out of a Candy Darter’s tail. Third, I scraped some of the skin off of the inside of the Ocelot’s ear. Fourth, I combined all ingredients in a test tube and boiled it for two hours. Lastly, I gave the solution to the Old English Mastiff to drink. Voila! The Candy Crushumble was born.
