Doxology Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; Praise Him, all creatures here below; Praise Him above, ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.— Amen.

The Book of Proverbs Chapter 3 Prov 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your Heart, Pt. 11

III. Faith Resting in God is Developed through Different Kinds of Trust.

A. Compliant Trust B. Confident Trust C. Courageous Trust D. Conquered, Conceding or Surrendered Trust. E. Cultivated or Learned Trust.

F. Committed Trust

It is not “just grin and bear it”, or resignation to your circumstances, but a vibrant confident expectation of reward and blessing that gives you spiritual staying power.

2 Tim 2:10, “For this reason I endure all things for the sake of those who are chosen, so that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus and with it eternal glory.”

1 Cor 13:7, “Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.”

G. Compelling or Strong Trust

Compelling, “Having force of character, will, and morality; capable of enduring, or exerting authority effectively; having force of conviction or feeling (strong faith).”

Abraham had no hesitation, no wavering or shakiness when it came to trusting the promises that God made to him. His faith was very strong. Rom 4:20-21; James 2:23

James 2:23, “And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “And Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness,” and he was called the friend of God.” Cf. Gen 15:6; Rom 4:3: Gal 3:6.

Rom 4:20 - “Did not waver” DIAKRINO, “to distinguish or to judge.” In the Aorist Passive, “doubt, hesitate, dispute, debate, or take issue.”

We are not to doubt God, hesitate to carry out, or dispute, debate or take issue with His mandates or promises.

We are to learn from God’s Word and the experiences He puts us through, with the result that we, “grow strong in faith” and are “fully assured.”

“Unbelief” refers to the malfunction of the Faith-Rest Life that results from either carnality or reversionism.

“Unbelief” creates spiritual weakness which is a lack of Bible doctrine in the soul. Every weakness in your life is from spiritual malnutrition, lack of doctrine in your soul.

But with God’s Word resident within your soul you will be “strong in faith” as Abraham was.

“Grew strong” - ENDUNAMOO, (EN, in; DUNAMIS, power). “To receive invigoration, or to become empowered.” “Abraham received power.”

ENDUNAMOO is also used in Eph 6:10; Phil 4:13; 1 Tim 1:12; 2 Tim 2:1; 4:17; Heb 11:34.

Eph 6:10, “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.”

Phil 4:13, “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.”

2 Tim 2:1, “You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.”

Rom 4:21 - “fully assured” is PLEROPHOREO. The greatest characteristic of the mature believer is having total confidence, being fully assured of God and His Plan.

1 Cor 11:13, “Be on the alert, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong.”

Compelling faith or trust in the Lord brings God’s blessings and rewards into our lives. Our faith in Him pleases Him.

Heb 11:6, “And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.”

H. Convinced Trust “Convinced” means, “to bring by argument or evidence to belief; caused to believe something; persuaded.”

Our faith not only deals with events of the past, or present, but the future too. Job 19:25-26

Job 19:25-26, “As for me, I know that my Redeemer lives, and at the last He will take His stand on the earth. 26 Even after my skin is destroyed, yet from my flesh I shall see God.”

We are to have “convinced trust” in the Lord for all times and situations. No matter what we may be going through, absolutely convinced in God, His Word and Plan.

Rom 8:38, “For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

“Convinced” - PEITHO, Perfect, Passive, Indicative. “I have been persuaded in the past that gives me confidence in the present.”

Based on your past knowledge and understanding of God’s Word and experiences applying that word, you stand in absolute Faith-Rest today.

2 Tim 1:12, “For this reason I also suffer these things, but I am not ashamed; for I know whom I have believed and I am convinced that He is able to guard what I have entrusted to Him (i.e., his soul) until that day.”

We are exhorted to have that same type of “Convicted Trust” by learning God’s Word.

2 Tim 3:14, “You, however, continue in the things you have learned and become convinced of, knowing from whom you have learned them.”

Acts 28:24, “Some were being persuaded by the things spoken, but others would not believe.”
