Informatics will be a major industry! Informatics industry exists not only in IT, but also in financial services, retail, energy, healthcare, … CIP will enable a rising informatics industry in Charlotte A strong informatics industry in Charlotte will not only make industries in Charlotte more competitive but also attract business investments, start-ups, and innovative companies create 1000s high-end jobs be a perfect way to diversify Charlotte economy

Every major industry in the region depends on informatics for its competitiveness and survival Charlotte has the need and market for informatics Informatics industry is emerging; no region has claimed leadership Timing is perfect and critical Talent is key to informatics industry NEEDED: additional 140,000 – 190,000 deep analytic talents; 1.5 million data-savvy managers; 50,000 healthcare IT professionals… (McKinsey, et al) Growing UNC Charlotte makes large-scale informatics programs feasible It will further UNC Charlotte as a key enabler and partner for Charlotte economic development
