5 Reasons for Referrals

6 Consequences of Referrals

7 Observations The intent of adopting a Positive Behavior Support model was to improve the behavior of the students. It is clear that poor behavior and academic achievement are linked. The original goal was to decrease referrals to the office by 10% each year. The number actually decreased by 45% during the first full year of implementation. Academically the students did do much better. Each year the API has gone up, and there was a significant increase in the percentage of students making the principal’s honor roll. The incidence of classroom disruption and defiance of school authority significantly decreased. Disciplinary actions have fallen dramatically including the need for student conferences because the students are taking responsibility for their behavior.
