Syllabus—Each teacher will provide one. It contains information on grading, make up work, and teacher office hours.
My eClass--- All students have access to this program. It contains all class postings, homework, and student grades. (
Attendance ---Students are encouraged to come to school on all school days. If your student misses school, please send a note with them explaining the absence on the next day. (Please sign the note)
Discipline --- Minor infractions would be a Teacher Detention of 30-minutes to 60 minutes after school. Any further discipline issues would be referred to an Assistant Principal.

Parent Portal - Registering a New Account: 1. Complete the Parent Portal form at school 2. Once you receive an with a “token” (a series of numbers and letters-see below) follow directions to complete your registration.

9. HOW TO STUDY IN HIGH SCHOOL
Use the school agenda book to keep track of assignments and tests.
Each day students should review material learned in class.
If confused, the student should talk with their teacher after class and make an appointment. (Teachers have different office hours—morning/afternoon/guided study)
Use flash cards to memorize terms.
Use Google Translate to help understand material. Khan Academy has tutorials in Spanish.
As a parent?
Each teacher has can teach study skills specific to their subject.
Parents can check Syllabus and also eClass.
If a student continues to struggle they should discuss with Mr. Cantrell.

Move On When Ready (formerly called Dual Enrollment)
An opportunity for students to receive high school and college credit simultaneously, you earn 1 unit per semester in MOWR
Students can take core classes and technical programs
All Tuition, Fees, and Books are paid for by the DOE and there in no residency requirement
Dual Enrollment meeting is February 22 at 7PM in the Media Center
Student and parent must attend together
Advanced Placement (AP) Courses
You can test in the Spring and earn College Credit
Your classroom teacher in that subject will sign you up during the registration process
Most AP classes have summer reading activities
Ten Points will be added to your final grade

Many ESOL students choose to attend Georgia Gwinnett College, (GGC) because this school accepts the COMPASS Placement test. This test is more accommodating than the SAT and ACT. GGC accepts lower GPA’s than other colleges.

Students who are active in High School Organizations, especially in positions of leadership, will look better to college recruiters. Visit:

Consider having your student join The International Club, which is a great way for students to meet and make friends with other international students. The club offers tutoring, movies, parades, monthly meetings, and fundraising! Meeting dates are advertised on school announcements and are posted on the BHS web site.
