1. THE BONE TIKI BY DAVID HAIR

2. MATIU Matiu is the main character in the book: The Bone Tiki, Matiu (Mat for short) Goes to his nanny's funeral, while he is looking at the dead body his aunt comes over and says that his nan wanted him to have the Bone Tiki that was on her neck. Mat hesitates to take the Tiki but soon brings himself to do it, as Mat held the Tiki he could fell a strange heat coming out of it but he just thinks he’s daydreaming not actually knowing that was a sign of the danger ahead of him…

3. KELLY Kelly is a secondary main character who Mat meets later in the book, Kelly aids mat in his journey to find the hidden powers of this strange Tiki. Kelly was a clown before she ran away to help Mat find the secrets of the Tiki. Later in the book they find the power of the Tiki but something else is happening…

4. AUTHOR: DAVID HAIR David has made 5 books so far and is not showing any sign of stopping. The 5 books he has written are: The Bone Tiki, Mage’s Blood, The Ghost Bride, Souls In Exile and Justice and Utu. The main plot for this story is: What do you do when you meet a tohunga makutu? You run. When reality dissolves and myths and legends come alive? You run faster. And when the dead come to life and blood debts have to be paid, will you have the courage to do what must be done? Matiu Douglas has a bone tiki he stole from a tangi. His father’s important new client wants it. Badly. And he has some very nasty friends. When Mat is forced to flee for his life, an unexpected meeting with a girl called Pania sets his world spinning. Suddenly he’s running through the bush with a girl-clown, a dog who is way too human, and a long-dead warrior. Fearful creatures from legend are rising up around him, and Mat faces a terrifying ordeal. And there is nowhere left to hide... not even in another world.

5. WIRI Wiri is a powerful beast that once lived until his brother banished him to a small, painful place, whenever he senses human’s he tries to tell them to free him although people cannot see him where he is banished they cannot hear him, but they can feel the constant heat bursts he gives off, Matiu felt one of these bursts but he did not know that a beast was in there, but he knew nothing about Wiri and he knew nothing about the journey that will happen in a few hours later in his life.

6. RUNNING AWAY Shortly after Mat takes the Tiki he starts seeing weird beasts that try to kill him, and now his Dad wants the Tiki for himself, when strange monsters and even your dad try to kill you for a bone carving you have no choice but to run from home and hope not to die.

7. WHERE IT TAKES PLACE This story is set in Napier at the start and slowly goes to Auckland for the final battle between good and bad, father and son. For my rating I rate it 8.6/10 The story is just a bit long and slightly repetitive but overall it’s a really good book. 12+ Reading
