2 About the Flag Somalia’s flag was adopted on October 12,1954. The flag was designed by a person named Mohammed Awale Liban. The flag was intended to look like the flag of the United Nation, because the helped them gain independence from Italy.

3 The location of Somalia The Somalia is known as Somali Democratic Republic. It is locate in the horns of Africa. Somalia is bordered by Djibouti in the northwest, Kenya on its southwest, the Gulf of Aden with Yemen to its north, and the Indian Ocean to its east.

4 important date #1 Mohamed was a self-proclaimed socialist president of Somalia from 1969 to 1991 While he was in reign the military staged a coup and took over. He attempted to develop a personality cult. Mohamed came out of reign when the country started to fall apart.

5 Important date #2 The during the first two decades the nineteen hundreds, Somalia was ruled by Britain. The Britain was challenged by persistent attacks by a rebellion led by Mohamed Abdullah, known and the “ Mad Mullah ”, by British people. A long series of intermittent engagements and truces ended in 1920 when British warplanes bombed Abdullah ’ s stronghold at Taleex. Although Abdullah was defeated, he was lauded as a popular hero and stands as a major figure of national identity to many Somalis.

6 Important date #3 In 1977, the Ogaden War started between Somalia and Ethiopia. The Ethiopian ’ s troops defeated the Somalis troop. The war ended in 1978, but Ethiopia and Somalia are still big rivals today.

7 Current Government There is no national government in Somalia. Part of Somalia is self-declared Republic of Somaliland.

9 Future I think that Somalia might grow because of their agriculture, but their government might make is go downhill because they really don’t have a government system.
