1 Bias and Reliability When Examining Historical Evidence

2 Bias Bias – a leaning towards or against a certain person, group, or idea. Are they telling the truth? Are they presenting the facts in a misleading way? Are exaggerating facts that support their case, while ignoring facts that disprove their case.

3 Reliability Reliability – is whether or not the source gives an accurate account of what is being described. Did the person actually witness the event or are they describing just stories they have been told. Do they understand what they saw. If the events are about a conversation, does the source provide the actual words or just a summary of what they said.
