1 SESSION 3: Recommendations (each country will be given 5 minutes to think through their responses) Lessons Learned from Farmers’ Involvement in GAFSP Processes Phnom Penh, Cambodia | November 8-11, 2012

2 1. What concrete activities can be undertaken to improve processes at country level? Strengthening Kendrio Krishok Moitree (KKM) for Enhancing Solidarity among Farmer Associations in Bangladesh At least two years close observation and follow-up of the formation of farmers’ association at district level Experience sharing among the national and district level stakeholders Exchange visit for the neighboring regions for best practice sharing with an aim of model replication for greater platform.

3 2. What follow up activities are needed? The regional platform has just initiated. Yet we need close monitoring for activation of the association. Regular guidance for committee formation in stairs and issue selection for periodic gathering. Capacity building for fund raising and campaigning/advocacy to ensure their rights. Initial financial support for the field organizers since skill sharing is needed at starting stage.

4 3. What kind of intervention and support do FOs need to facilitate their partnerships with government and be able to access public resources, esp. GAFSP? Initial monetary support for the skilled leaders/organizers to motivate the rest FOs members since the places are scattered. Rights awareness Capacity building on advocacy/campaign Facilitation for organizing and conducting consultation with different departments of government to access public resources,

5 4. What structures for management and cooperation among FOs and international CSO communities can be put in place? Financial cooperation Best practice sharing Motivation or consultation with government for partnership with FOs in order to better delivery and wider reach of government services.
