1. NIKOLAEVSK-ON-AMUR You will at all time go back in thought to the great and mighty Amur river if you were born and grew up on its banks and happened to see its vastest spaces at least once in your life….

2. My hometown is situated in the North- East of the Khabarovsky Krai, on the great Russian river of Amur.

3. Nikolaevsk-on-Amur was founded by Russian explore G. Nevelskoy in August 1850. The town was named after Russian Tsar Nikolay. In 1865 it became economical and political center of the Far East, but in the 1880 the administrative center was transferred to Khabarovsk, and many people left Nikolaevsk. It was one of the first towns in the Far East. In 1926 it was declared the region town.

4. It is a small town and stretches for over 15km from north to south. Now Nikolaevsk has the population of 40 thousand. People are friendly and hospitable.

5. You can get to our town by plane and ship, and by car.

6. The town lies on the left bank of the Amur river. The maximum river width here is six kilometers.

7. You can see many wonderful landscapes on the banks of the river.

8. Nikolaevsk is surrounded by great forests and hills. The nature of our region is beautiful and wild.

9. Bears, hares,foxes, elks and squirrels are living in taiga

10. Among the trees growing in our region are birch, pine and oak, larch and fir trees

11. Winters are snowy and frosty. But you can ski and toboggan.

12. Spring in our town is cool and rainy

13. Summer is warm and sometimes hot in our place You can go to the picnic on the Amur bank, swim, sunbathe, and go fishing.

14. In the forest you can collect mushrooms and berries.

15. The velvet autumn is very beautiful, and people like walking throw golden autumn parks.

16. Nikolaevsk is a sea port.Ships bring different machines, materials, fuel and food.

17. Our rayon is rich in woods, fish, fur and gold. Here you can taste the black and red caviar.

18. These monuments are connected with the history of my town.

19. It’s the statue to the founder of our town G.Nevelskoy This monument means soldiers letter and four years of the Great Patriotic War.

20. “The Crying Mother Monument” and the Soldiers Grave.

21. We have very beautiful cathedral with blue domes. It’s doors are open all day long and it’s bells strike in the morning. The church was built on the old cemetery in the park.

22. We like our town very much and we want it to become the best town in the Far East. WELCOME TO NIKOLAEVSK-ON- AMUR!
