3 3 The video showing (10 minutes) video DREAM Could I? VIDEO SHOWING The kid / participant watches a short introductory video of rugby. The goal is to inspire kids to try to play rugby and wonder whether if the could emulate the players in the video, and dream to become a future player. The video should mention the values of the Game, the principles, and other relevant information sorrounding the sport: field of play, apparel, tournaments, main national teams, famous moments, current state of rugby in the world and in the country of showing, etc. The iRB Rugby is Reaching Out video (in suitable subtitles) is a good tool to be supported with other brief materials. 4 1 2 3 4 5 The method aims, through a set of 5 games facilitated by a person with minimal knowledge of the sport, to allow the player acquire and incorporate progressively and gradually the skills and basic rules for playing a version of non-contact elemental rugby in a short period of time of 45 minutes in only 1 session. This method was designed to serve as a tool for introducing rugby in exhibitions, school visits, etc... and making a quick impact in the attention and interest of participants towards rugby. These are the characteristics set for designing the method: Safe Gradual Progressive Participant accompaniment & guided discovery From easy to difficult From known to unkown Through games Involving since the start the key elements of evasion, ball handling, tackling and support time knowledge of the game DRAFT 4 Playing the game (45 minutes)

5 touch! EVASION Move to spaces that keep me on play and reacting to stimulus that try to cancel my participation. Become familiar with space – field boundaries and moving hazards & opportunities. BALL HANDLING Become familiar with handling the ball; both handling & passing. TACKLE Learn ways to trap and “cancel” other participants. Apllying pressure. STAY USEFUL Reading other players situation – interpreting – in order to support them - reacting and executing movement towards availables spaces and “hazards” that try to cancel me. HOW TO PLAY All players within the channel running in all directions and passing the 2 balls to each other in whichever manner and whichever direction. When the coach calls “GO!” the 2 ball carriers at that time become the nominated defenders and must attempt to touch as many other players as possible by touching them with the ball. When touched, the non-ball players must stand still. HOW TO PLAY The channel comprises 2 defenders and the other players are attackers. The attackers wotk as a team with the target of succesfully completing and passing the ball to each player at least once and without being touched by the nominated defenders and overall completing a succesful round of pases involving everyone. The attackers call their name once they have received the ball. The nominated defenders try to tackle the player who is holding the ball by touching them with two hands on the waist. 2 - INHERENTE RUGBY LEARNING PRINCIPLES Simila r to iRB Get Into Rugby: TryNon-contact Session 2aWarm-up Keep Ball WINS… Number of rounds in which all players touched the ball versus number of times the round was cut down before it finished in a determined given time (1-2 minutes). ¡pass! ¡José! HOW TO PLAY The channel comprises 2 teams of equal number of players. The game is played in turns of possesion of the ball. The team with possesion of the ball works to be tackled by the other team as less times as possible in a determined given time (1-2 minutes). The players of the team in possesion of the ball can dribble and pass the ball to other team mates to avoid being touched. 8 EVASION Idem exercise 1 & 2 towards an specific end goal. BALL HANDLING Idem exercise 1 & 2. TACKLE Idem exercise 1 to defend territory. STAY USEFUL Idem exercise 1 &2 & 3, building in a direction. HOW TO PLAY The channel comprises 2 teams of equal number of players. The team in possesion of the ball is the attacking team and it works to put the ball as many times as possible in the points zone of the other team, earning 1 point for each time it does. The attacking players must try to run past the defenders to score a try. The attacking players can dribble and pass the ball in any directionto other team mates to reach to the points zone. The players of the nominated defending team try to tackle the player who is holding the ball by touching them with two hands on the waist. When touched, the ball carriers must pass to other players of his/her team in order to continue the move towards the other team’s zone. If tackled, the attacker must pass the ball sideways or backwards to a team mate within three strides or three seconds.
