11. “Evil” refers to harming others, “good” refers to providing for the well-being of one’s neighbor, operating with integrity in all your business transactions. Cf. Prov 3:27; 11:23.

12. “Do unto others as you would have done to you!” Mat 7:12, “In everything, therefore, treat people the same way you want them to treat you, for this is the Law and the Prophets.”

13. 2 nd “seeks” - BAQASH, בָּקַשׁ, The pursuit of something not present to satisfy a desire.

14. Seeking the “favor” of man through your righteous acts which in turn is seeking the favor of the Lord, Prov 8:35; 10:32; 11:1, 20.

17. 3 rd “seek” - DARASH, דָּרַשׁ “To resort to, to seek, inquire, or require.”

18. 3 rd “seek” - DARASH, דָּרַשׁ “To resort to, to seek, inquire, or require.” A person who carefully and energetically strives to fulfill a passion, cf. Prov 11:19b.

19. It is seeking wicked deeds to participate in them or to bring trouble and disaster into the lives of others.

20. In either case, what they seek will come back around to them, Prov 1:18f; 26:27.

21. Prov 26:27, “He who digs a pit will fall into it, and he who rolls a stone, it will come back on him.”

22. “What you seek for others, you will find for yourself”, Mat 6:33; 7:7.

24. Prov 11:28 “He who trusts in his riches will fall.”

25. The person who places their hopes and dreams in the world and in their worldly riches rather than God will eventually fall.

26. Fall contrasts with “green leaf” below; the Autumn when leaves are falling off of the trees vs. Spring when new life and growth emerges.

27. The Fall means dead, dying and decaying of the leaves, which is the future of the one who trusts solely in Satan’s Cosmic System.

28. We are made to trust in God alone, all else ultimately leads to disappointment or worse. Trusting in worldly riches is a foolish thing, Mark 10:24, and ultimately a fateful enterprise.

29. Wealth is fleeting, Prov 23:5, and in the end it cannot save from death, cf. Prov 10:2, 15; 11:4; 18:11; 28:11; 30:7-9.

30. The Contrast!

31. The Contrast! “The righteous will flourish like the green leaf.”

32. It is the new leaf of Spring, compared to the fatal fall of the wicked.

33. It speaks of the newness of life, the guarantee of new life, the vibrancy of that new life and the perpetual renewing of life as it springs forward each year.

34. This is the blessing for the righteous, the believer of 2 Cor 3:18, “Being transformed into the image of Christ.”
