3. Going to the Office Each of you will be receiving an infraction that an actual ABSS student has committed. Some of you will have the same ones. Please read your infraction and decide whether this is something you would deal with in your classroom, or something you would send a student to the office for. If you believe the infraction is classroom managed, go stand in the back of the room.

6. Targeting That 20% Phase II of PBIS implementation is focusing on interventions to use for the 20% of students who struggle meeting the PRIDE Expectation on a daily basis. We will be using our Intervention Period to target this group of students. So how will this work?

7. Targeting That 20% When a student receives his 8 th signature, the teacher must fill out a Minor Incident Report (MIR) form and have that student review and sign it. Give the MIR to an administrator at some point THAT day. (We will not be sending the student to the office.) The administrator will assign the student to a day in PBIS Intervention. Here the student will be required to write a reflective essay based on the infractions. The student will then be required to get both the MIR and reflective essay signed by a parent or guardian.

8. Targeting That 20% When a student receives their 2 nd MIR (16 th signature), fill out the form, have the student sign it and send both the MIR and the student to the office. The administrator will then determine the proper consequences.

9. What Else Is New There will be no more folders! The infraction log is part of the student’s planner. Students will be responsible for their planners. There will be no more tickets! We will be using stamps to keep track of positive behavior in the planners. We will be using Google Docs to keep track of points. We will add up points during homeroom/first block on Monday.

10. Homerooms Daily Check to make sure each student has their planner. If a student does not have a planner make a note of it, and then hand them a backup folder. (More to come on planners.) On Mondays During homeroom/first block, look at each student’s planner and record the number of points each student has lost and make a record of it. If a student has 4 or more signatures last week, assign them grade level ASD.

11. Homerooms By Friday Input your homeroom students’ data into Google Docs. (I would recommend just using Google Docs on Monday since you have to record the info anyway.) Administration will be checking Google Docs every Friday (after 3:00) to make sure each teacher has input the data.

12. Planners Planners contain a lot of important elements Assignments Hall Passes PBIS Infraction Logs PBIS Stamp Rewards Parent-teacher communication It is more important than ever that each student has their planner with them at all times (inside and outside of the classroom).

13. Planners Students should not leave your class without their planner or back up folder (given by the homeroom teacher). If a student does not have a planner after homeroom, the student should go back to the last class they had to get it. (I would make a note of it on a class roster.) If a student says they didn’t have one today (and doesn’t have a back up folder) that student needs to get a folder from their homeroom teacher.

14. Planner Consequences Forgotten First/Second offence – lose all points for the day, homeroom teacher gives 1 signature for not being prepared. (Homeroom teachers need to make a note of this.) Third offence – Same as first/second offence. Homeroom teacher fills out MIR form and gives it to an administrator. The administrator will assign the student to Organization Intervention.

15. Planner Consequences Lost First/Second offence – lose all points for the day, homeroom teacher gives 1 signature for not being prepared. (Homeroom teachers need to make a note of this.) All accumulated stamps lost. Student must purchase a new planner for $3. See admin if there is a money issue. Third offence – Same as first/second offence. Homeroom teacher fills out MIR form and gives it to an administrator. The administrator will assign the student to Organization Intervention.

17. Rewarding Students’ Behaviors This was a struggle last year. Rewards do not have to have any monetary cost Here are some ideas that students had last year Sit where you want in class Free time Outside time Sit with a friend at lunch Homework pass Picnic lunch outside

Rewarding Students’ Behaviors There will be three types of rewards a student can use their stamps on School wide reward Grade level/Team reward Classroom reward These are the rewards that the PBIS team will offer (possibly with help from others) Hat Day (1 day a quarter) Lunch outside in the “learning area” Morning basketball (1 day a week) Discount ticket dance or trip

19. Rewarding Students’ Behaviors What the PBIS Team needs from you…. Come up with a list of 3 to 5 rewards that students can receive in your class before you leave the meeting. Post this list in your room so every student knows. Get together with your team and/or grade level and brainstorm whole team/grade reward possibilities.
