2 1. Read Martin Luther King Junior’s I Have a Dream speech 2. Annotated for literary devices

3  Take out 2 highlighters  Take out 1 pen  Grab a dictionary or have your cell phone handy

4  Number the paragraphs  Independently skim the text  Identify with one highlighter at least 5 words you do not know Remember there may be more, and that’s ok!  Define these word

5  Re-read the text in its entirety  With your second highlighter identify & label parts of the speech where Martin Luther King, Jr. is speaking out against injustice  Write a 1-2 sentence summary for each paragraph

6  Annotate the rest of the speech using your annotation book mark.  You should have at least 3 TT 3TW 3 TS 3 * (pieces of important information) 3 ? (questions that need answered) Whatever is not finished in class will be homework!
