They may be well- said, creative, vividly descriptive, or they evoke some emotion.  You need to circle or underline at least 10 words  Highlight and label at least 10 examples of figurative language, including, but not limited to, the following:  Alliteration, assonance, consonance  Allusion  Imagery  Simile, metaphor, personification  Anaphora (the repetition of words or phrases in different lines or stanzas)

4 Look back through the speech to identify and label at least 10 examples of the following:  Ethos, pathos, logos  Specific persuasive techniques from your notes (e.g. basic values, repetition, opinion as fact, etc.)  Examples of figurative language from your glossary (e.g. metaphor, imagery, allusion, etc.)

5  Write a paragraph to explain why Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is known as one of the most persuasive speakers in history. Using the “I Have a Dream” speech text, give specific examples of how he uses rhetoric to move people to action and to change the way people think.
