IHE Update IT Infrastructure, Radiology, Laboratory and Cardiology IHE Update to December 2003 DICOM Committee Charles Parisot, GE Medical Systems Information Technologies

HIMSS/RSNAIHE IT Infrastructure2 IHE Integration profiles Patient Informa- tion Reconci- liation, Access to Radiology Information Consistent Presentation of Images Basic Security - Evidence Documents Key Image Notes Simple Image and Numeric Reports Presentation of Grouped Procedures Post- Processing Workflow Reporting Workflow Charge Posting Scheduled Workflow

HIMSS/RSNAIHE IT Infrastructure3 NM Imaging Profile Done so far – NM group organized – Initial draft NM Image Profile created Desired end results – NM Imaging Profile or options in IHE RAD TF, with NM specific attribute support in storage SOPs, and required use of these for defined display purposes – Secondary Capture of post-processing display (single and multiframe). Risks/issues – Get consensus on defined display purposes

HIMSS/RSNAIHE IT Infrastructure4 Media Distribution Profile Done so far – Use cases and objectives defined: 1. Import for reading or use as relevant prior study 2. Import for review/ viewing by patient or patient’s primary care physician or other GP. – List of issues for further discussion Desired end results – Goal is to have a single export format be capable of supporting all import use cases. Risks/issues – Support for non-DICOM objects – Assumptions about capabilities reading device – Manual steps in IHE transaction, how to define – Lots of detail

HIMSS/RSNAIHE IT Infrastructure5 Departmental workflow Done so far – Consensus on what the scope and approach is, assigned owners for parts. Desired end results – Publish as a single supplement. Large portion of overall departmental workflow will be described in an Appendix to Vol I. Sections on SWF, PWF, RWF (/SINR) will each require ~1 page description of their relationship to DWF. Appointment Notification transaction(s) [from IHE-F] Order Filler in SINR (report export) [from IHE-F] Issue – Instance Availability Notification. – Instance Availability Notification. IHE Tech Committee reviewed WG6 progress and would like to recommend the GP-PPS approach. Joint IHE Rad Tech/DICOM WG6 t-con desired urgently for coordination.

HIMSS/RSNAIHE IT Infrastructure6 IHE IT Infrastructure 5 Integration Profiles Enterprise User Authentication Provide users a single name and centralized authentication process across all systems Enterprise User Authentication Provide users a single name and centralized authentication process across all systems Retrieve Information for Display Access a patient’s clinical information and documents in a format ready to be presented to the requesting user Retrieve Information for Display Access a patient’s clinical information and documents in a format ready to be presented to the requesting user Patient Identifier Cross-referencing for MPI Map patient identifiers across independent identification domains Patient Identifier Cross-referencing for MPI Map patient identifiers across independent identification domains Synchronize multiple applications on a desktop to the same patient Patient Synchronized Applications Synchronize multiple applications on a desktop to the same patient Patient Synchronized Applications Consistent Time Coordinate time across networked systems Consistent Time Coordinate time across networked systems

HIMSS/RSNAIHE IT Infrastructure7 IHE Growth Radiology –Successful connectathon October 6-10, 2003. IT Infrastructure –Critical infrastructure issues addressed: authentication, linking patient ids, CCOW, retrieve info for display. –HIMSS 2004 HL7-IHE Joint Connectathon (Jan) & Demo (Feb). Laboratory –Quick progress: Lab Scheduled Workflow passed public comment. Trial Implementation Version issued Nov 15th for demos mid 2004. Cardiology –ACC & ESC launch Dec. 8-9th – Goal ACC march 2005 IHE has now clearly expanded beyond radiology
