2. A Little Light Review In the beginning…God said…”Let there be light,” and there was light. Genesis 1:1-2 In the beginning…the Word was with God, and the Word was God…In him was life and that life was the light of all mankind. John 1:1-4 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light. Ephesians 5:8

I insist in the Lord that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do Ephesians 4:17 – That is not the way of life you learned when you heard about Christ Ephesians 4:20 – It is improper for God’s holy people Ephesians 5:3 – It is out of place Ephesians 5:4 – Because of such things God’s wrath comes on those who are disobedient Ephesians 5:6

Therefore do not be partners with them Ephesians 5:7 – You are light in the Lord Ephesians 5:8 – Live as children of light and find out what pleases the Lord Ephesians 5:8b, 10 – Expose the fruitless deeds of darkness Ephesians 5:11 – Be very careful how you live Ephesians 5:15 – Do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is Ephesians 5:17

5. The “Rest” of the story … God didn’t create us to find our purpose God didn’t create us to fulfill our purpose God created us to serve His purpose, and to display His glory Ephesians 1:11-14 God did this before the creation of the world Ephesians 1:4

6. On the 7 th day, God rested from all His work Genesis 2:2 God has given the promise of entering into His rest to anyone who enters God’s rest by resting from their own works, just as God rested from His Hebrews 4:9-10 Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. Hebrews 4:16

7. If righteousness could be obtained through the law, Christ died for nothing! Galatians 2:21 After beginning by means of the Spirit, are you now trying to finish by means of the flesh? Galatians 3:3 I fear for you, that somehow I have wasted my efforts on you. Galatians 4:11

8. But … how? Honesty with God Hebrews 10:22 Remember roots Hebrews 10:32-35 – “Don’t doubt in the dark what you learned in the light” Live your life: – Today, not some day – As it is, not as you think it should be – One step at a time, in the light you have

9. Believe it! – Don’t build a message that would still be true if Jesus had not died on the cross. ~Ed Stetzer – Live out who God has made you in Christ. It’s as simple and as difficult as that. – You don’t draw near to God by living the life He wants you to live, you live the life He wants you to live by drawing near to Him. – A hundred small steps can take you over the same ground as a few very large ones.
