Christian philosophy helps us understand the connection between Revealed truth and truths accessible by reason alone. a.Philosophy (love of wisdom) is the science of wonder. b.Christian philosophy helps us see the universal dimension of our Faith.

God has created us and communicated to us His goodness. a.We have been created in God’s image and likeness, as seen in our ability to reason, to will (choose) and to love. i. I can begin to know truth and that which is outside of me. ii. I can know God exists. Continued

God as Trinity (Father, Son and Holy Spirit), is the central mystery of the Christian Faith. g. God created the universe out of love, but humanity freely sinned against Him.

The power of sin has limited us from entering into a relationship with God. a.Original Sin is the condition of separation from God that each person is in from the moment of their conception. b.Sin has darkened our intellect, weakened our will, and made sin look attractive (concupiscence). c.We are subject to spiritual and physical death.

10 Session 8 Philosophical Foundations December 7, 2015December 7, 2015December 7, 2015 a. God has slowly regathered His broken family through the institution of covenants, culminating in Christ. b. Through Christ’s passion, death, Resurrection, He showed us a life of obedience, free from sin. c. Through the Holy Spirit given to us in Baptism, we are united in grace with the Trinity. 4. Only in Christ do we have the hope of overcoming Original sin and all its effects.
