2 What is Title I? Title I is a FEDERAL program that provides money to schools based on the # of students that receive free or reduced lunch. 6 AYP – Adequate Yearly Progress Set percentages that each student group has to meet in both reading and math Set percentages that each student group has to meet in both reading and math BES has 4 student groups: White, African American, Students with Disabilities (SWD) and Economically Disadvantaged Students (EDS). This creates 21 TARGET goals for Benvenue Elementary. We also have to meet a set attendance percentage as one of our AYP goals – so your child’s attendance at school is IMPORTANT. AYP is an all or nothing sanction – if you don’t meet the percentage with just one subgroup then you don’t meet AYP.
