2. Warping a Layer  The bottle in our project looks 3-dimensional  The label looks flat against the bottle  The final effect of this project is to warp the label so it conforms to the bottle shape  Earlier in the project we warped the words “Olive Oil” so that the letters appeared wavy  For this project we need to apply the warp to layers instead of just letters

3. Warping a Layer  In order to transform the layer, we need to group the layers using the Smart Objects Feature  Using Smart Objects allows us to continue to edit both the contents of the layer (the type) and to edit the wrap after you apply the transformation.

4. Adding Type  With the Like fine wine layer selected, click inside the paragraph of text and drag the handle in the middle of the lower edge of the text box down to the bottom of the edge of the label  Place the text cursor at the end of the paragraph of text and press enter  Type 16 FL Ounces  Select 16 FL Ounces and in the character palette, set the words to 13 pt. and make them white. Set the baseline shift to -10

5. Adding Vertical Type  Deselect all of the layers  Click on the vertical type tool  Drag in the orange area to the right of the paragraph to create a long narrow text box. Start from the upper-right corner so you don’t select the paragraph text  Type PRODUCT OF ITALY  In the character palette set type face to Adobe Garamond, set it to 8 points, set tracking to 300 and make the color red

6. Grouping Layers into a Smart Object  Click to select OLIO layer and press shift and click to select olives layer  Merge these two layers using the merge command form the layers pop-up menu  Click on the Blank Layer Label and press shift and click on the Product of Italy layer (Photoshop selects all of the layers in between them)  Choose group to New Smart Object in the pop-up menu

7. Warping with Smart Objects  Choose View > Show > Guides, then zoom in in the label  With the Product Of Italy layer selected, choose Edit > Transform > Warp  Photoshop lays a grid over the layer in the image with handles and lines that you can drag to warp the layer  One at a time click the center of the horizontal line of the grid and drag the lines down ¼ of an inch to create the curved label  Press enter to apply the transformation  Save your work!!!!!!!!
