G. PassalevaRoma - July 28, 2004 Status of MWPC production site in Florence G. Passaleva

Roma - July 28, 2004 Infrastructure Wiring machine in the clean room Consolle of the wiring machine View of the open area and the “gray room” Yunshan in the “gray room” picking up panels for measurements

G. PassalevaRoma - July 28, 2004 Panel gluing 1.Panels are checked for planarity… 2.…cleaned under the hut with isopropilic alcohol… 3.…glued on the gluing machine with automatic glue dispensing… 4.…measured again after gluing… 5.…and stored in the shelf 1 2 3 4 3 5

G. PassalevaRoma - July 28, 2004 wiring machine Laser soldering bridge Glue dispensing bridge and wire torque motor

G. PassalevaRoma - July 28, 2004 Assembly tables Panels wired glued soldered and cleaned are… 1.…measured with WTM… 2.…and with WDM, 3.tested for HV with the nAmperometer. 4.On the same table we glue side bars 1 2 3 4 Final chamber assembly table (thanks to ROME 2 for the realization of the tools) 3

G. PassalevaRoma - July 28, 2004 Quality controls: WTM, WDM,HV test WDM cameras WTM hammer laser spot and photodiode HV connections and nAmperometer

G. PassalevaRoma - July 28, 2004 Building chamber 1 a) Wiring machine enters the clean room c) Placing the spacers… b) Gluing the top bars… d) The chamber is ready to be closed We built ch1 to go through the full production chain. The WM placed in the clean room on the 28 th of June The chamber was closed on July 10 and brought to LNF the 13 th. Ch1 was built with the very first panels assembled. Panel L1 in particular was one the first glued with the automatic gluing machine Gap A was severely leaking (most probably due to bad gluing of the HVbar see above) and needed to be sealed. Several wires needed to be replaced (  repair procedure tested)

G. PassalevaRoma - July 28, 2004 Building chamber 1 Fernando checks with the spacers the clamping strength The chamber is closed

G. PassalevaRoma - July 28, 2004 Results on chamber 1 Test made @ LNF Many thanks to M. Anelli ! HV: 2.6 kV. Expected current: 100 nA Gap A was leaking from one corner (probably hvbar not well glued) Gap B looks reasonable Gap C is not uniform and the gain is too low Gap D looks more uniform but in fact there is current limitation set by Mario !!!!

G. PassalevaRoma - July 28, 2004 Building chamber 2 Two panels (701,1255) already wired, soldered and tested Two panels (706,1027) glued and measured Plan to close ch2 by the end of this week

G. PassalevaRoma - July 28, 2004 Building chamber 2: HV test Measurements taken with the LNF nAmperometer. Panel 1255 Panel 701

G. PassalevaRoma - July 28, 2004 Road towards the PRR At the moment the main missing item is (still !!!!) the laser soldering (even though it is finally converging) Ch 2 will be closed this week We will try to close another 3 chambers by the end of august (test all or some at LNF ?) Clearly, we want to understand well all the problems that are arising while building our first chambers
