Schedule – Where are we? Start DateDuration Preparation of I.G.E.1/27/20147 Program Lights2/3/20147 Program Timer2/10/20147 Test Sensors/Report to MCU2/17/20147 Test Components from MCU2/24/20147 Program The Application2/26/201412 Report LCD Screen Info from Sensors3/3/201414 Report Web Page/Wireless from Sensors3/17/20149 Obtain/Program Optimal Settings for Food Producing Plants3/26/201412 Test Application4/7/20147 Test System4/14/20147 Wrap Up4/21/20144

Current Progress: “Program the Application” (2/26/14 – 3/3/14) All sensors and outputs working properly Real time clock working properly Need more info and research on best conditions Build a list of conditions/make each “crop” into an object – when certain button is pressed, call that object only Other things will not need customized, code for heating/cooling, humidifying/dehumidifying

Current Progress: “Program the Application” (2/26/14 – 3/3/14) Making appointment with member of faculty from Botany class – list of questions Make any changes/additions suggested Circulation fan was too big for system Camera

TTL Serial JPEG Camera with NTSC Video

Environment Control Temperature control- Set Temp, ex: x = 75 (target Temp) If (Temp > 75) //Start cooling process if temp above target Exhaust fan ON Circulation fan ON Reservoir heater -5 //Reservoir temp is normally set to the target system temp Else//when temp is back at target, return to “normal” state Circulation fan ON Exhaust fan OFF Reservoir heater return to set system temp If (Temp < 75) //Start heating process if temp below target Reservoir heater on +5 Nutrient dispensing schedule increased by 2 Exhaust fan OFF Circulation fan OFF Else//when temp is back at target, return to “normal” state Circulation fan ON Reservoir heater return to set system temp Nutrient schedule return to normal

Humidity control- Set Humidity, ex: x = 60% (target Hum) If (Hum > 60) //System too humid, turn fans on to vent Exhaust fan ON Circulation fan ON Else //when hum is back at target, return to “normal” state Circulation fan ON Exhaust fan OFF If (Hum < 60) //Start humidifying system if hum below target humidity Humidifier ON Nutrient dispensing schedule increased by 2 Exhaust fan OFF Circulation fan OFF Else //when humidity is back at target, return to “normal” state Circulation fan ON Nutrient schedule return to normal Humidifier OFF

Scheduled Events Light Interval – ex: 18 hours on (8AM – 2AM); 6 hours off (2AM-8AM) Nutrient dispensing – ex: Twice per hour for 10 minutes (every 30 minutes)

Potential Future Issues We are quickly using up our pins for inputs/outputs If we run out, we can either purchase a larger Arduino Mega or use a second Arduino Uno (we already have this) Need research on how to make two Uno’s work together

Current Week Goals ( 3/3/14 – 3/10/14) Continue to work on wireless module We already have connected to Calnet Get current data to display on website – Arduino transmits data Set conditions using website – Arduino receives data Complete conditions list (pending meeting w/ faculty) Complete container modification – need to add vents, tie down all cables/wires and connect relay module
