MCS LWC MAGNUM ORIGINAL CONCEPTS  Designed to Control Loop Systems  Build to be generic and handle many configurations of Loop Controllers  Type of Loop, WATER WITH PUMP, AIR WITH FANS is selected  Enable ice making / cooling stages  Enable heating stages  Handle multiple VFD (variable-frequency drive)  Allows for peak hour scheduling  Provide control based upon loop (similar to circuit control)  Could be used as a front end to other MCS Controllers

MCS LWC MAGNUM OVERVIEW  Provides a general loop control system  Provides flexibility with multiple options  Control each loop independently  Actual control of heating/cooling stages or provide run enable indication to other loops or systems  Provides meaningful status of the system

MCS-CONNECT – LOOP STATUS Color Coded Chillers Unit status

MCS-CONNECT- Setpoints Color Coded Setpoints match color code of Chillers

MCS LWC MAGNUM  Supports up to 8 individual loops  Supports up to 12 pumps or fans per loop  Supports 16 cooling/ice making an heating stages per loop  Supports 1 VFD(variable frequency drive) for pumps or fans per loop with unique control sensor  Supports 1 VFD for heating stages per loop  Supports 1 VFD for cooling stages per loop

MCS LWC Magnum  Supports control of loops on: peak load schedules, on or off all day or based on daily schedule  Supports 2 daily schedules per loop  Supports separate run/stop and run override per loop  Supports individual setpoints per loop  Supports individual state names (status) per loop

MCS LWC Magnum  Supports up to 80 Relay Outputs  Supports up to 112 Sensors Inputs  Supports up 28 Analog Outputs  Supports 255 Set points  Supports storage of last 100 alarms  Supports 1008 History Samples for all inputs & outputs

LWC Options (Specified by loop LWC Options (Specified by loop )  Individual setpoints for each loop  Individual loops controlled on: - Run/Stop indicator (digital and/or network) - Run/Stop indicator plus temperature  Low Ambient control: - None - Loop off - Run only pumps - Enable loop to run

LWC Options (Specified by loop LWC Options (Specified by loop )  Control of primary and backup pumps or fans with rotation  Control of cooling loops and enable rotation  Schedule: - Run loop on a day schedule Always on, Always off, On - Off schedule - Do not run on peak demand hours  Separate Control Zones with ROC control logic for cooling and heating

LWC Options  Loop override indicator  Ice making options, control on: - Temperature only - Ice level in the tank or - Both temperature and ice level  Increase Heat Target based upon Ambient  Adjust Cool & Heat Targets based upon sensor input  Adjust Pump Targets based upon sensor input

Magnum Advantages The Magnum master board may handle entire applications (large systems with ice making capability may require additional boards):  Number of Inputs (16: 12 either analog or digital & 4 fixed digital )  Number of Outputs (10)  Number of Analog Outputs (4)  Loop enabling based upon RO Magnum Display:  Designed to show Loop Control data, not chiller data  Loops are identified by their name  Loop & pump status is displayed  VFD speed is displayed  Graphing capability All of the standard Magnum advantages!

LWC Sample Applications  Provides pump control with heating and cooling with ice making (Edgewood School)  Provides pump control with VFD and backup rotation  Provides fan control with VFD - multiple fans with backup and rotation  Provides pump control and turn on run enable indicator to other chiller packages  Provides control to an outside air system and modulate the damper, enable cooling or heating as needed  Provides control of units with cooling, heating and reheat functions

LWC Review Edgewood School  Three loops Loop #1, building loop Run/Stop with override No temperature control on start Ambient temperature option Day of week schedule Control on supply temperature to the building 2 pumps max 1 control on pressure differential with rotation 1 cooling stage with valve (control temperature to building)

LWC Review Edgewood School  Three loops Loop #1 determines which chiller (loop#2 or #3) will be enabled. Loop #2 & 3, chiller loops: Run/Stop with override No temperature control on start No ambient temperature option Peak Off Schedule Control on ice tank temperature 1 pumps max 1 control on pressure differential with rotation 1 cooling stage enable chiller to make ice

LWC Edgewood New Application  Control two class rooms independently Individual run/stop & schedules 1 pump with cooling (valve) & heating stages per room Set up 2 loops to control – 1 per room PROBLEM: temperature OK but humidity was too high Added a temperature sensor before heating coil per room Added a loop per room with enthalpy control

LWC Edgewood New Application  Control the following 2 chiller packages: Rotate the chiller packages 1 pump 1 chiller enable 1 condenser pump 1 condenser fan And if running package cannot maintain the cooling temperature after 5 minutes enable the second unit And if unit running fails switch to the other unit
