DEFINITION False Dilemma: A fallacy of oversimplification that offers a limited number of options (usually two) when in reality more options are available. (Either-or)

This universal example of False dilemma shows that you only have two choices. Either economic growth or pace of life. No in between. This example shows false dilemma in a more emotional way. This is discussing whether or not drugs should be tested on animals such a rats. Its saying either the rats live and the little girl dies, or the little girl dies and the rat lives.

Crucible example- Act one Page 188. Parris: “You will confess yourself or I will take you out and whip you to your death, Tituba!” Tituba is being accused of witch craft and she continues to deny that she is involved with the devil. Reverend Parris says that she will either confess or he will whip her until she dies.

Crucible example- Act 3 Page 213 Danforth: “But you must consider, sir, that a person is either with this court or he must be counted against it, there be no road in between. “ Danforth is speaking to Francis. He is saying you are either with the court or against it. As he says. “there is no road in between.”
