1. Tips for Textbook Notes Label notes by unit, chapter, and headings Use ink and only write on one side of the page – remember you will need to review these notes months from now

2. Use loose-leaf paper and keep notes in your binder (or a spiral designated just for APUSH textbook notes)  Leave wide margins and space between topics – to add info from class

3. Read a whole section (heading) and then go back and take notes Put info in your own words

4. Use my term list for review and to see if you missed anything (highlight in your notes) Jot down any questions that you have so you remember to bring them up in class or with your study group

5. Learn to decode the textbook 1. Descriptive – the characteristics of things 2. Cause/Effect Problem/Solution Look for sequencing/numbering clues

6. Anticipate analysis questions Over the whole unit/chapters – not just the pages assigned for one night Compare/Contrast
