2 Home Command Center Abstract The Home Command Center (HCC) will allow the user specify a complex appliance or lighting control schedule from the main module. The user interface will consist of a keypad and a LCD. The HCC will allow the user to key in this schedule at the main module, plug in a control module at the appliance, and then forget about it. The current design uses X- 10 technology for the appliance control. The timing schedule will always be accurate and not be compromised by power outages, because the HCC incorporates a WWVB time receiver to acquire and maintain the time. All of the subsystems of the HCC are controlled by a BS2-IC, which keeps the schedule in its internal memory. Future additions to the HCC will include: remote access to timing schedules via dial-up or Internet and infrared or RF appliance control.
