Extends the Common Market to sea transport. Requires a change in existing regulations. Will be supported by electronic data exchange systems

Simplification of customs formalities. Guidelines for speeding-up checks relating to animal and plant products. Simplification and harmonisation of administrative formalities for vessels at EU ports

6 | 6 European Maritime Day 2010 Gijon Customs Regulation (EU) N° 177/2010 of 2 March 2010 amending the implementing provisions of the Community Customs Code. Presumption that goods shipped between Community ports have a Community status. Goods are carried under cover of a single transport document drawn up in a Member State. Non-Community goods will be covered by a transit procedure

7 | 7 European Maritime Day 2010 Gijon Customs (followed). An authorised shipping company can register a new regular shipping service (new or modified). The information shall be accessible to all customs authorities operating in ports located in the customs territory of the Community. Shall apply from 1 January 2012

8 | 8 European Maritime Day 2010 Gijon Veterinary checks General guidance procedures for checks on live animals and animal products arriving at EU points of entry. No mandatory checks on animal product of Community origin or fully cleared. Partly cleared products will be subject to manifest check. If possible by electronic means and single window.
