2 In every lesson there are Standards with Objectives and Indicators of Learning Standard I : Perceiving and Responding Standard II : Historical, Cultural, and Social Context Standard III: Creative Expression and Production Standard IV: Aesthetic Criticism Maryland State Art Standards:

3 Kindergarten Fall Portraits We used shapes and lines to create ourselves. Then we drew a background to reflect the time of year. The students were amazed how much their pictures looked like them!

9 1 st grade repeated line designs

11 “I’m using the side of the marker to make thick lines in my pattern. The more I draw and trace around the leaves the lines create movement.”

24 2 nd Grade Spider Webs 2 nd Graders read the “Eensy Weensy Spider” which was an version of “The Itsy Bitsy Spider” Students drew their using fractions and dividing spaces evenly then used a radial pattern to complete the lines in the web. The enjoyed putting the spiders on at the end!

29 2 nd Grade Landscapes Students used glue for the outlines like a stained glass window. They showed foreground middle ground and background using warm and cool colors.

33 3 rd Graders study endangered animals and focus on the Hawksbill Sea Turtle

34 We used warm colors for the pattern on the shell and cool colored tissue paper for the backgrounds.

35 1 st Grade Sponge Painted Snowmen Who would of thought the turtle’s shell is used for jewelry.

41 Two 3 rd Grade classes made clay bells… They experienced a whole unit on clay and where it comes from.

42 They shaped the clay over an egg carton and cup

43 Pieces were loaded into a kiln to fire They are baked at 1750 degrees Then the students glaze them and they are Fired again at 1999 degrees F.

44 Veronica Morfin The finished pieces had string and glass beads tied into the inside so they would ring!

45 4 th Graders studied Mexico and the importance of Symbols in Mexican Art

46 I like mixing the primary colors to make the secondary colors!

47 They created their own clay sun and added a cartoonish face for decoration.

52 Students studied Vincent Van Gogh and learned why he was one of the world’s most tragic artists. They created their own version of “Starry Night” using oil pastels. They loved creating the city below the stars in 3-D.

59 5 th Graders etch their black scratch paper to reveal the colors on their bird illustrations.

68 5 th graders latest projects were their printed self portraits they drew using symmetry.

70 Never knew that your eyes are located in the center of your face.

71 Do I have to draw every dred for my hair? This is going to take forever…but it does look good!

72 Leonard Da Vinci was a scientist and an artist who knew the human face was divided into proportions. Your face is five eyes wide.

73 It’s neat how our features look so different but are located on the same planes.

The faculty and staff of Prince Street Elementary for supporting the arts…and putting up with some messy hands sometimes!
