2. A little about Me!
I graduated from the University of Missouri in 2010.
I student taught in 5th grade at Oak Brook with Mrs. Fortner.
Last year I was a building teacher’s assistant.
I’m very excited to be teaching my first year teaching!

Students read out of a leveled book- by the end of 5th grade students should be reading at a level U
Students grade is based on individual conference, conferring notes, End of Unit assessments, reader’s notebook, teacher observations, and in class assignments.
Students should be reading books at home for at least 20 minutes EACH night.

7. Writing Curriculum Continued
Grade is based on conferring notes, in class assignments, published pieces, and teacher observations.
Students will publish a piece for each writing unit.

8. Math Curriculum
Students will gain a positive attitude about mathematics, feeling competent and confident, realizing the value of mathematics and engaging actively in their learning.

Grade based on in class work, assessments, homework, and teacher observations.
Students will be switching classes for math.

10. Science Curriculum
We will alternate with science and social studies units during the week.
Science note booking will follow the Scientific Method
Grade based on notebooks, assessments, in class work, homework, and teacher observations.
4 units covered:

11. Social Studies Curriculum
Will alternate with science and social studies units
Grade based on work completions, assessments, in class assignments, homework, and teacher observations.

JA Biz Town
Citizens in Action

12. MAP MAP testing takes place in April
Students will be tested on Communication Arts, Mathematics and Science.
On going MAP activities will take place throughout the year to help prepare students

13. Field Trips JA Biz Town field trip will take place in April.
The Point- 5th Grade celebration usually takes place the last week of school

14. Assignment Notebook/Binders
Teacher will go over homework and planners each day.
Homework will be uploaded every night on website under Daily Homework.
Homework and notes should be returned the next day unless otherwise noted or for extenuating circumstances.
Friday Folders will go home on Friday and will need to be returned and signed for the following Monday. Assignment books should also be signed and turned in at this time.
Student binders must go home and come back to school everyday.
