3 3 Course Overview  An overview of the field of consumer behavior (Ch1)  Consumers as Individuals:  Perception, Memory & Learning, Motivation & Values, Self, Personality & Lifestyles (Ch2-6)  Attitude (Ch7&8)  Consumers as Decision Makers  Individual & organizational decision making (Ch9&12)  Group influence & opinion leadership (Ch11)  Consumers and Subcultures  Income & Social Class, Ethnic, Racial & Religious, Age (Ch13-15)  Consumers and Culture (Ch16)

4 4 Assessment Components  Continuous Assessment: Midterm Test15% Group Project20% Individual Assignment10% Class Participation 5%  Final Examination 50%

5 5 Midterm Test (15%)  One-hour quiz  50 Multiple-choice questions  In Week 9 – March 16, 5:00pm-6:00pm  Cover Chapter 1-6  All students are required to take the test, no make-up test

6 6 Group Project (20%)  Form the group: 5-6 per group, 6 groups in total  Review an assigned article & Identify a real relevant case scenario  Presentation: article review & case study – 25 minutes plus Q&A; submit ppt slides  Summary report: 15-18 pages; due at the last day of the class

7 7 Individual Assignment (10%)  Read other five articles (not assigned to your group) individually  Answer a set of questions relevant to these five articles (2 for each article)  Due at Week 12 (April 8, before Easter Holidays)

8 8 Class Participation (5%)  Attention Students! As agreed in the Department Board Meeting held on 15 January 2008, all Marketing Instructors will implement the attendance policy that requires students to attend at least 75% of all class meetings held for each course offered by this Department in which they are enrolled.  Check class attendance randomly – I won’t have you sign; I won’t count the heads; I will base on my impression

9 9 Final Examination (50%)  Two-hour written examination  Cover most of the materials taught in the course: Ch1-9; Ch11-16  Format: General essay questions & case study

10 10 Policy Statement Students shall be aware of the University regulations about dishonest practice in course work and the possible consequences as stipulated in the Regulations Governing University Examinations.
