1 Outlook Production of the 12 DPs (220m Stations) Installation of the DPs in the LHC Tunnel Status of the RP Systems/Services Resources Production of DPs for the 147m Stations TOTEM Roman Pots Detectors G. Ruggiero (PH/TOT) LHCC minireview – 21 September 2009

2 Production up to Detector Package 12 The production for other pots is ongoing… The RP Stations at 220m sect 56 (April 09) and 45 (August 09) are fully installed. Production schedule presented in the previous meeting strictly respected !!! Production completed end of June !!!

3 Detector Packages Installation (July 2009) All the pots formerly installed have been extracted for final inspection together with the last produced pots. The insertion of all the 12 Detector Packages has been completed beginning August. 3 Sector 45, RP Station 220m Unit Far Sector 45, RP Station 220m Unit Near

4 Roman Pot Hardware Overview 4 Detector Vacuum

5 Safe limit before glow discharge in the pot Maximum allowed distortion for the thin window in the pot (POT also moved out) Vacuum System Final layout of the vacuum system installed on both sectors at the 220m RP Stations 5 OK Ongoing All pots evacuated as of the insertion of the DPs PUMP Bourdon (2 set points) electrovalve 10 mbar 100 mbar It includes a local setup constraining the vacuum in the pots in a working range

6 Cooling System 6 For the stations at 220m: Pressurisation to 15.2bar of the cooling lines Pressurisation to 10 bars (long term) Leak detection and leak fixing Evacuation of all the lines Circulation of cooling liquid Sector 45Sector 56 Plant operational and running on internal mode since long time

Final Overall Test with CCC foreseen first two weeks in October

Perrot 11 All efforts concentrated on the stations at 220m Most of the work limited by access to the tunnel (these activities almost completed). Unforeseen two weeks of no cooling has affected the advancement of the commissioning of the RPs People (physicists, engineers, technicians, students…) helping in this phase of the project. Not all 100%!!!

12 New DPs for the stations at 147m 12 Available at: http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=pzsoquTCfFRtXs_kHZq7FFg&gid=0 (Table updated continuously) The production for the pots at 147m is continuing. Nevertheless, at this stage is hard to produce a reliable planning for these items 51 hybrids at different stages of their assembly
