1 Unit task Preparing a personality quiz How sociable are you ? How open-minded are you ? How fashionable are you ? How generous are you ? How studious are you ? How reliable are you ? How honest are you ? How compassionate are you ? 1 Form into 8 groups. Each group work on a different topic, i.e. different question listed below. Each group have to make at least five questions for each topic.

2 Unit task Now talk about ways to test the personality trait. Take “How sociable are you ? ” as an example. How sociable are you ? going to parties making new friends meeting your friends

3 Unit task 2 Write some questions for a quiz, and decide on scores. 3 Talk to three different people and ask them the questions in your quiz. 4 Write a description which tells people about their personality. 5 Report back to the class on who scored highest and lowest on your quiz. Example quiz

4 Unit task How open-minded are you? Example quiz 1 If you hear an opinion you don’t agree with, do you...? A disregard this opinion straightaway B listen politely, but not take in any points C consider this opinion again and see if there is any new information which may change your mind

5 Unit task 2 If you attend a lecture by a famous teacher, do you...? A accept all the points made in this lecture, because this person is famous B question some points in your mind, but don’t think further C ask questions about the points you have queries about and evaluate the answers given

6 Unit task 3 If you attend a lecture in which you think you know the content well, do you...? A stop listening to the lecture B listen, but not attentively C listen carefully and check if the lecturer has made all the points you know and any points you don’t

7 Unit task 4 When you read a textbook, do you...? A accept everything said in the book B still use the content even if you have different opinions C challenge the textbook and write down all your queries in order to ask your teacher or discuss them with your classmates

8 Unit task 5 When you receive a low mark, do you...? A blame the person who marked your work B think “well, bad luck, I know I did not put much time there, but I was hoping the teacher would give me a higher mark” C ask yourself and later your teacher about how you can improve your learning and get a higher mark in your next piece of work

9 Unit task Scores for choices A 0 point B 1 point C 3 points Add up all your scores for the five questions and refer to the interpretations on the next page. What is your total score?

10 Unit task If you get a score lower than 5, it indicates that you are not open-minded. If you get a score lower than 10, this shows that you are able to think in an evaluative way, but is not willing to pursue your initial thoughts further. If you get a score higher than 10, you are active thinkers, willing to take on different opinions, reconsider them and make a judgment based on known and new information.
