2 Training at two levels: 1.Needs of the project Information and skills 2.How people feel Attitudes and feelings Both – from the viewpoint of beneficiaries and staff

3 The LearnEast training plan: Written as part of the bid Splits training into three levels ESF expectations of staff skills

4 Underlying the training: Learners are individuals with unique learning needs Project is about equity of access Project is about involving people in shaping their learning

5 Practical issues for learners: Access and accessibility Learning environment Appropriate equipment Appropriate learning packages

6 Just as importantly it’s about: Building learners’ confidence in their abilities Getting over previous negative experiences Learners need to have confidence we’ll deliver

7 Training needs to offer: Understanding of issues facing learners Practical support we can offer Importance of working with the learners and with partner organisations

8 Where we want to get to – we want to shift the balance of power to the learner!

9 We want to empower learners to : Work with us on their learning plans Act as role models /mentors for each other Make suggestions for change Challenge us Make their own choices for the future
