This suite simplifies our enterprise deployment services portfolio by providing a good, better and best model with complete training and certification. This is the same image that we use in our ProSupport portfolio and even the naming convention is carried over.
Basic Deployment is rack and stack hardware installation only in the same way that Basic Support only covers hardware.
The ProDeploy middle tier includes both hardware installation and software configuration for firmware and hypervisor in the same way that ProSupport includes both hardware and software.

Here’s the feature comparison for the ProDeploy Enterprise Suite. It breaks down the features into three buckets: pre-deployment, deployment and post-deployment, which aligns to how customers think about deployment.
[Basic Deployment]
Basic Deployment offers hardware installation by experienced technicians, which includes onsite rack, stack, cable and label with the disposal of packaging materials.
Similar to Basic Support, Basic Deployment is only available during business hours.
Many customers want to deploy during their own maintenance windows, which is a great reason to upsell them to either ProDeploy or ProDeploy Plus.
[ProDeploy]
In ProDeploy, we start introducing pre-deployment and post-deployment features. Based on research, planning was the #1 most important criteria for our customers which includes having a single point of contact for project management. In ProDeploy, the Project Manager will consolidate all the orders, even the orders without a ProDeploy SKU, create one project and lead as a single point of contact for the customer. In addition, we do site readiness reviews and implementation planning to ensure the customer’s site has everything it needs in terms of power and cooling as well as cabling and any other peripheral items to prepare for delivery.
In deployment features, ProDeploy includes 24x7 service hours which is great for customers that want to do things on nights or weekends. This is another parallel between ProSupport. Customers get the same deployment features of Basic Deployment plus software installation and configuration of the operating system, firmware and any hypervisors. We also do knowledge transfer and hand over project documentation at the end of ProDeploy.
In post-deployment features, we introduce deployment verification and configuration data transfer to tech support after deployment. This includes running a collection of SupportAssist and sending that data to the remote deployment team to confirm the configuration is valid. Then Tech Support will maintain it as deployed configuration data for future support assistance to help them resolve any customer problems quickly.
[ProDeploy Plus]
Moving over to ProDeploy Plus, you see that every feature has a circle in it. ProDeploy Plus is the most complete offer in the market which is a legally approved claim you will see in our marketing materials and can use with your customers.
In pre-deployment, you get all of the features of ProDeploy in addition to Technical Account Manager oversight. If you sell ProSupport Plus and ProDeploy Plus on a given asset, the Technical Account Manager, or TAM, will oversee and be available to help with the deployment. The project manager will still lead the project, but the TAM will be involved on the planning call and be available to share insights as well as be available for any escalations.
In the deployment, you see again all the features of ProDeploy plus a few new ones. With tool driven mapping and reporting, our engineers will be using a data collection tool to do a much more detailed planning session and a much more detailed deployment plan to ensure that customers have fewer problems because we’re collecting more information about their environment. It could also uncover other opportunities and needs for customers which is a great reason to sell ProDeploy Plus.
Although data migration is not included in ProDeploy Plus, data migration analysis and recommendation for storage provides customers with a plan on how to do data migration. Customers who want data migration service from Dell can purchase an add-on SKU on a per terabyte basis. So effectively we’re giving our customers the plan on how to go do it, and they can decide if they will execute on the plan or if they will like us to go do it.
Almost all of our customers have some flavor of third party networking in their environment, usually Cisco. Multivendor integration testing for networking includes full integration into, for example, a Cisco network, which our customers have asked for over the years. And the last one here is a carryover: full project documentation with knowledge transfer just like in ProDeploy.
In post-deployment, you see both the deployment verification and data hand off to tech support plus two additional features.
A large majority of our enterprise calls shortly after deployment are around configuration issues. There may not be a traditional break fix issue or problem, but maybe something has been configured slightly differently or something else has changed in their environment. ProDeploy Plus provides customers with 30 days of remote configuration assistance to modify configuration of the deployed components . Another nice thing to know about positioning this is that in ProSupport and ProSupport Plus, configuration assistance is not included. So when you sell both ProDeploy Plus and ProSupport Plus, you can ensure your customers are completely covered with any post-deployment configuration issues.
Finally, included in ProDeploy Plus are the training credits for Dell Education Services. Back to the customer feedback in the focus groups, customers have told us that they would like more training, but they don’t always have a need at the time they are buying hardware and by the time they have a need, they don’t have the budget. So for training credits, for every ProDeploy Plus tag, customers will see training credits they can redeem later for anything in Dell Education Services’ catalog; literally any title. It could be training related to server, storage, networking or could be something completely different.

To test the effectiveness of Dell’s enterprise deployment services, Dell enlisted the help of Principled Technologies, a third-party company that performs technology assessments.
Both a deployment engineer from Dell Deployment Services and a Principled Technologies in-house administrator were tasked with deploying a Dell solution consisting of servers, networking components and storage arrays.
The full deployment took the Principled Technologies in-house administrator twenty-eight hours and forty minutes to complete. With Dell Deployment Services, that same administrator would only have needed to participate in the planning phase, which took the Dell deployment engineer just two hours and thirty minutes. This is a 91 percent reduction in time required of the IT admin.
It took the in-house administrator nine hours and fifty five minutes just to complete the planning phase. The two hours and thirty minutes required by the Dell deployment engineer is a time savings of about 75%.
As mentioned, it took the in-house administrator twenty-eight hours and forty minutes to complete the full deployment, while the Dell deployment engineer completed it in twenty hours and thirty two minutes: a time savings of 39%.

Industry data shows that when third parties deploy server, storage and networking vs. internal staff, the savings is about $2000 per device. The $2000 is split into two types of savings. The first is the IT labor staff savings based on a third party doing the deployment. The second is user productivity from decreased downtime when third parties deploy. This is a real opportunity when it comes to the use of third parties for the deployment of data center hardware.
