Title 24 Part 6 Standards Focus on Solutions not Problems We all know what the problems with compliance are: It’s too complicated It’s too expensive Too much of a hassle Too many forms Not enough time to enforce Not enough resources to enforce My competitor isn’t doing it Etc… …but what are we doing about solving them?

4 Standards Implementation
How can compliance be assessed and improved? We need to first understand the extent of the problems before developing lasting solutions How can compliance be assessed? Leverage what’s currently being done to assess compliance Compare building department permit data to HERS registries How can compliance be improved? Change the way we do compliance!

5 Standards Implementation
Why are compliance documents required and how can they be improved? Prioritize compliance measures Plan check and inspect the highest priority measures first Develop user centric compliance forms At a glance measure summary Develop a compliance form that provides value to the owner/occupant Streamline the installation form process

6 Standards Implementation
What can be done to reduce the transactional cost of compliance? Streamline the installation documentation process (CF2R) Provide a Performance based construction phase compliance approach This approach would allow HERS raters to verify ALL energy efficiency measures Utilize an AS-BUILT model as an alternate approach to providing a CF2R and CF3R
