ADAPTIVE CSVC OVER MIMO-OFDM SYSTEMS USING PARTIAL CSI ► The objective is to improve the average of peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) and bit error rate (BER) of the received video stream by exploitations using partial CSI (Channel State Information) of video sources and channel condition. ► Proposes an adaptive Combined Scalable Video Coding (CSVC) system for video transmission over MIMO-OFDM systems. ► We exploit and analyze the potential of partial CSI over closed-loop precoding MIMO-OFDM. ► The adaptive characteristic of the CSVC encoder is based on the medium grain scalability (MGS), the coarse grain scalability (CGS), and the spatial scalability by using the same matrix from the partial CSI. ► The experimental results confirm that the MGS mode significantly compared to the CGS and Spatial mode scheme, and show that the delivery quality improves average peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) and bit error rate (BER). ► The performance of the adaptive CSVC scheme with partial CSI is better than non- adaptive CSVC system (without CSI). ► The results in the MGS mode have a gain of 2.7 – 3.1 dB for Y-PSNR and 0.5 - 1.5 dB improvement in signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) at a BER of 10 -3. ► The scheme is robust towards the changes in the value of additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) variance. 2 FREE SPACE II. A NEW SCHEME FOR EVALUATING VIDEO TRANSMISSION ► This research uses Combined Scalable Video Coding (CSVC) referring to Joint Scalable Video Model (JSVM), i.e. development of H.264/SVC, using Coarse Grain Scalability (CGS) and Medium Grain Scalability (MGS) modes. ► This new scheme is an evaluation platform for the CSVC implementation on a more realistic simulation over wireless broadband network based on open-source program and Network Simulator II (NS-2). ► The result shows that CSVC implementation on MGS mode outperforms CGS mode. ► This new scheme is simpler than other schemes in prior work (in the literature). ► The main parameters used to evaluate framework performance are PSNR, end-to-end delay, and queue length systems: Y-PSNR as performance of the proposed schemaPerformance metrics systems on the end-to-end delayThe queue length packets of the proposed scheme Framework and Tool-Set for Evaluating Video Transmission Using CSVC, [Online].
