Birmingham e-Learning Foundation - ian - 0610112 Birmingham e-Learning Foundation (Be-LF)  Birmingham Schools receive £87,000 Grant The Birmingham e-Learning Foundation has today confirmed that 5 Birmingham schools have received a total of £87,000 in grants from the National e-Learning Foundation. The grants will be enhanced further by parental contributions that will almost double the amount available to purchase a variety of computing devices – PCs, Laptops and hand-held computers to enable pupils to access learning resources anytime, anywhere.

Birmingham e-Learning Foundation - ian - 0610114 Where the money comes from  A mix of funding sources.  Parental Contribution We set up Direct Debits from parents E.g. £10 per month over 3 years for a desktop, £7.50 over 2 years for a PDA scheme. These are charitable donations – we can also collect Gift Aid Note the parent is contributing to the enhanced T&L, this is not a bulk purchase.  We then access National e-learning funds These will match (or better) the Parental Contributions Grant round just closed – next one in March?

Aston Pride, Computers for Pupils, …. Note that up-front capital turns the parental contributions into a very welcome, sustaining revenue stream.
