Fellow Kiwanians! Do you know that you belong to the best club in Division 5? You probably know that we have one of the largest and long standing memberships, we line up the most relevant and dynamic speakers, we meet at one of the most well respected venues, we are among the leaders in funds raised and new members, and we do all of this with below average dues. You may not know that we also had the most representatives at the International convention of all the Division 5 clubs. While most clubs only sent two people, we sent our current president (Neil), our president for next year (Jim), and even our president for the year after that (Doris) - now that's what I call a motivated group of leaders. We were also represented by two of our past presidents and most active leaders, John Bates and Carl Krouch. We all had a very good time and learned a great deal at the International convention. I think we have found many new ways to increase our membership numbers and the experience of each member. I think if we recommit ourselves to providing service for young children as our top priority, we can add a great deal of value to each of our memberships. Before our next board meeting, please take a few minutes to think of a group of YOUNG CHILDREN that could use our help. I think we should go ahead and pick at least one service project per month for the next twelve months to benefit YOUNG CHILDREN. This will allow us to recruit volunteers to help, which in turn will attract new members. Now is an exciting time to be a member of such a worthwhile service organization, and we look forward to sharing more of these best practices with you. Sincerely, Neil Powell August 7 - Breakfast Meeting, 7:30 AM, (No lunch meeting) August 7 – Board Meeting, (after Breakfast Meeting) All members are encouraged to attend. Aug 21-24 - Fl District Convention, Hyatt Regency Jax Riverfront Heavenly Father, Fill us with your boundless love so that we may pass it on to others, especially to those most in need of compassion and understanding. Remind us that an aim in life is the best fortune worth finding. And now bless this food to our use and us to Your service. Amen July 3rd - LAST WEEK ‘S HIGHLIGHTS Make a difference. Erica Godamunne, Dick Brand, Al Russ and Bill Montgomery enjoyed a great lunch (full buffet at Holiday Inn for only $9) with the Westside Club and a discussion by an official of a nursing/rehab facility (hopefully not arranged just for the Beaches visitors). More of our members should respond to Al's offer to participate in our monthly Interclub visits with other Division 5 Kiwanis clubs. You'll get acquainted with other Kiwanians; you'll fellowship with other Beaches members during the drives to the meetings. You also will learn more about how other clubs run their meetings--and you'll probably learn something new to help you become better Kiwanians. Bill Montgomery President Neil Powell presided over our first Breakfast Meeting. Dick Brand introduced our speaker. Thank you, Mike Mulhern, for your interesting talk about Sports Legends, in particular, Babe Ruth. INTERCLUB WITH WESTSIDE WORD SEARCH No Birthdays or Anniversaries Founded in 1915 in Detroit, Michigan, Kiwanis International now comprises 600,000 members — men, women boys and girls — worldwide.
