4. Techniques Involved? David and Marcus (TYW0901) have already explored and implemented a way to optimize the storage usage. This year’s FYP will be look at the optimization in the network file system side! Traffic Optimization! Data Deduplication!

5. Traffic Optimization? Web Proxy Web proxy is a special case of traffic optimization. Such an optimization is to: - Minimize # of duplicated transfers, and - Remove load from a slow component.

6. Cloud Optimization? Clearly, the storage is a slow component! Can we detect and optimize the traffic between the computing node and the storage? Explorary! No need to be a TYW0901’s storage Monitoring and optimization nodes.

7. Project Goal My Expectation: –I really want to play on a cloud! –Outcome is not the most important thing, to me, the findings and your adventure on the cloud are more attractive.
