3 When You are Absent Contact the school when you know you will be absent that day. It is your responsibility to find out what assignments you missed. Bring excuses to Attendance Office. 3 Parent excuses allowed per semester 6 Unexcused Absences can result in possible court action.

4 Accelerated Reader 2 Books each 6 wks. 1 Non-Fiction 1 Fiction AR test score of 80% or better must be obtained for book to count toward required number read.

5 CELL PHONES Are to be turned off before entering the building. Can only be used during the school day with teacher/ administration permission. Phones can be confiscated and held until a parent can come and pick it up. Devices used for harassment, bullying, profanity, threats, etc…will be confiscated, possible legal action, loss of privileges for the remainder of the year.

6 WCMS Dress Code The administration will have the final discretion in the enforcement and interpretation of the dress code requirements. Any current clothing “fads” that the administration feels is inappropriate for school may be prohibited. Shirts/Tops No advertising of or implication of sex, drugs, alcohol, tobacco, vulgar language, offensive slogans to others, and/or gang or group related words, slogans, or pictures will be permitted. The shirt needs to be long enough when the arm is raised not to show any skin, i.e. belly. No Spaghetti Straps or Tank tops (not the same as sleeveless) can be worn as an outer garment. No shirt with revealing cleavage can be worn. T-shirts with the cutout sides are not permitted. Pants Any style of pants is acceptable as long as they are not a distraction to the learning environment, not a safety concern, are worn at the waist and do not show inappropriate amounts of skin and/or undergarments. Skirts, Shorts, Tunics and Dresses The length of the above clothing must be no shorter than the end of the student’s fingertips when hands are at their sides. Wearing leggings or tights underneath does not make the length appropriate. Shoes Any type of shoe may be worn with the exception of house shoes. Tennis shoes are required for the gym floor. Headgear Caps, hats, hoods, sunglasses and bandanas are not allowed to be worn during the instructional day. These items must be stored in the student’s locker or they will be kept by the teacher/administrator. Any item which could be hazardous to the student’s safety (i.e. safety pins, horseshoe nails, fish hooks, chains, spiked or studded bracelets, studded necklaces, leashes, choker chains, or wallet chains, key chains worn around the neck or hanging from pockets Failure to comply with school policy will result in consequences at the discretion of administration and can include ISS, ASD, or suspension.

7 Abuse of a Teacher UNLAWFUL for a student to direct speech or conduct toward a staff member that would disrupt or interfere with good order and discipline of the school. (profanity, threats, defiance, aggressive behavior, etc.) Court Action WILL be taken.

8 Bullying/Harassment It is Against the Law to bully or harass another individual. We are ALL responsible to report any bullying or harassing activity.(bystanders, the bullied, etc.) Repeat offenders will have COURT ACTION taken against them.

9 Class Disruption Behavior that interferes with the learning environment can result in school consequences. If a principal has to come to the room, it will result in consequences.

10 Fighting/ Inappropriate Physical Conduct If you hit or use physical aggression toward another person while on school property…. ABSOLUTELY NOT TOLERATED! 1 st Offense- OUT OF SCHOOL SUSPENSION and possible court action. (whether you hit first or not..)

11 One Way Traffic Morning upon arrival at school… Report to the cafeteria until 7:40 am Eat breakfast in cafeteria or from breakfast carts Go to homeroom No arrivals prior to 7:15
