2 Founded in 1837, as a Mining school, by the Conseil Provincial du Hainaut (oldest school of engineers in Belgium). Official universitary institute from 1920. Definitely called Faculté Polytechnique de Mons in 1935. From 2004, member of the Académie Universitaire Wallonie-Bruxelles,consisting of ULB, UMH and FPMs Hopefully fused with UMH in 2009 to form the new University of Mons FPMs - History

3 One of the 4 faculties of engineering in the French speaking community (with ULB, UCL and ULg) About 1100 students (Sciences de l’Ingénieur) 65 members in the academic staff 150 members in the scientific staff 80 members in the technical and administrative staff FPMs – Some figures
