4 The tipical day of an irishman is always similar. For lunch the irishman doesn't eat very much, because he had a big breakfast early in the morning, something he used to eat something very fast. In the morning he has the breakfast. A typical breakfast is usually composed by 2 sausages, 2 slices of bacon, 2 slices of black and white Pudding, eggs, 2 tomatoes, 2 spoons of beans or cooked mushrooms, white bread in cassette or black toasted.

Even of this dish are many recipes and also in this case the basic ingredients remain fundamentally the same. 2 large onions - 4 carrots - lamb (or beef) - 8 large potatoes - celery - salt and pepper - meat broth. Good for all seasons, is served in almost all the pubs accompanied by the inevitable pint of Guinness. You can not go home without trying this dish. 7 The young irish people is extremely nice and cordial with everybody. THE SCHOOL SYSTEM In Ireland children begin the school at six years old, till sixteen years old. The most famous universities are : -Trinity College of Dublin -University College Dublin -Dublin city University -Dublin Institute of Technology.

8 The sports more practiced by the young people are : Gaelic rugbyHurlingCamogie The gaelic rugby is played by fifteen (15) players Hurling is a male sport played with a ball and a stick. the same is the Camogie, but it is payed by the girls.

9 The young irish people know how enjoy themselves !! In Ireland there are a lot of festivals like Lisdoonvarna matchmaking festival, which is the biggest meeting for single people in all Europe.

11 When they finish working, they go to the pubs to drink a beer all together. The most famous beer is Guinness, which is well known in all the world. The minimum age for drinking beer is 18 years old.

12 At Christmas … The majority of Irish families are christians, It is also for this, that there are strong believers.After Christmas, there are 11 days of feasts after the epiphany. This period is called : “ The twelve days of the Christmas ”. These Christmas traditions are used also in the western countries. In the families it is tradition to put next to the windows the candles that will be turned on in the evening of Christmas.

13 In some parts of Ireland is used to open all the doors of the house at midnight to let “enter” the new year, and makes noise banging kitchen utensils or the house in order to drive away evil spirits during the transition from the old to the new year.

14 Also Irish families celebrate the epiphany also called “ Little Christmas ” or “ Woman’s Christmas ”. They cook cakes and special biscuits and they light twelve candles in honor of the twelve apostles of Jesus. Later the coins are wrapped in baking paper and are inserted between the potatoes to be found by children. ON 6 JANUARY AT EASTER In Ireland, as in the rest of Northern Europe, eggs are painted with designs inspired to spring or the rebirth : those chocolate are also brought into the church and blessed. The most believers practicing then, on Easter morning, go to the top of a hill to get as close as possible to the sky: the tradition is to do the "dance of the Easter sun." the Irish await the sunrise on the heights, which celebrates the resurrection of Christ, and for the occasion, does a dance in the sky. The show is phenomenal, and despite the proverbial meteorological changes of Ireland, takes place every year.

17 The Irish language, also called Gaelic, is the national language of the Irish Republic. It belogs to the celtic languages. The Irish Constitution states that the Irish language is the official language.

Even if the official language is Irish, the most spoken language is English. Irish is spoken only in limited parts of Ireland. Irish is an obligatory subject in high schools. Since the fourth century we have information on the use of Irish but when english begun to be used, Irish was used less and less also thanks to the Irish Revolution and because Irish language, during the time, was associated to the poor people’s language. After the Indipendence of 1922 the English remained the most spoken language. In 2003 the Irish Repubblic’s governament introduced the Irish language as the national language. In 2005 irish language was recognized by the UE.
