5 Legislative Issues School Elections – SB587 has failed but can be brought up again Choice – SB65 has passed with ammendments ▫3% limit (per year) ▫Sunsets in 2 years Vouchers/Scholarships – HB1987 has failed, SB 740 is in revenue committee.

7 ESL Academic Improvement Annual Measureable Achievement Objectives (AMAO) Results: ▫In 2010-11  1 of 3 AMAO’s were met ▫In 2011-12  2 of 3 AMAO’s were met

8 AMAO 1 Percent of ELL’s making progress by moving from one composite level in spring 2010 to a higher level in spring 2011 on the ELDA test. 2010-11: Target: 28% Decatur: 29.46% 2011-12: Target: 29% Decatur: 49.59%

9 AMAO 2 Percent of ELL’s fully proficient in English with a composite score of 5 on the ELDA test. 2010-11: Target: 3.5% Decatur: 1.97% 2011-12: Target: 4% Decatur: 5.44%

10 AMAO 3 The 2010-11 objective was to meet AYP (under “No Child Left Behind”) whereas the 2011-12 objective was to meet AMO under the new ESEA waiver. 2010-11 Math & Lit.: Target: AYP not met 2011-12 Math: Target: 63.82% Decatur: 43.37% 2011-12 Literacy: Target: 63.63% Decatur: 58.21%

11 Teacher Recruitment and Retention Bonus Update We have received confirmation that our teachers will be receiving the bonus from the state for teaching in a high priority district. Details can be found on the website under “Human Resources”
