Surface Facility Design Group 9 AJKM Waleed Al-harbi, Mitchell Joseph Khalil Kasali Abdul Mdee Mohammed

Location of Lease (Surface Facility)  Stanley, North Dakota  Bakken Formation  Extreme weather conditions:  2 acre lease= 87,120 ft squared  16 wells  Spacing of wells = every 15 yards 

Vendors (Service Companies)  Casing/Cementing  Drilling  Wellhead/ Production Tree  Fracking Crew  Separator/ Heater  Stock Tanks  Water Transport  Glycol Dehydration Unit  Maintenance  Schlumberger  Precision Drilling  Cameron  Universal Well  Pesco  HG Tanks  Western Petroleum  Cameron  Key Energy Services

Wellhead Installation  Casing Head-the lowest part of the wellhead that is almost always connected to the surface casing string  Tubing Head- attached to the casing spool used to hang the tubing (smallest casing string) and seal the annulus between the tubing and casing.

Surface Facility Design  The job of the production facility is to separate the well stream into 3 components  The 3 components “phases” are: oil, gas, and water  Then process theses phases into some marketable products or dispose of them in a environmentally safe manner

Vertical Design (Two Phase)

Horizontal Design (Two Phase)

Vertical Separator Design (Three Phase)

Horizontal Separator (Three Phase)

Glycol Dehydration Design  We are using the structured packing in our design to less the cost of operations  We estimated that the glycol circulation rate (Rc) to be 5 gal TEG/lbH2o  P = 900 psia, T = 75 F  W in = 35 lbH 2 O/MMscf  DP = 15 F  The dew point depression is 75 F – 15 F = 60 F

Hydrate Prevention In Pipelines  Gas hydrates are crystalline solids in which gas molecules are encased in cages of water molecules  Hydrates are associated with major and potentially hazardous flow problems, especially in offshore operations  4 elements are needed in the formation of hydrates : Water, Natural Gas, Low temperature, and High pressure
