CubeSat for Ions, Neutrals, Electrons and Magnetic Fields PI Robert Lin, SSL Project Manager Thomas Immel, SSL Systems Engineer Jerry Kim, SSL Mechanical Engineer David Glaser, SSL STEIN Scientist John Sample, UCB MAGIC Scientist Tim Horbury, ICL Imperial College London CINEMA French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory

GENERAL NOTES 10/31/2011 6 UCB students, 4 recent UCB grads currently on CINEMA team, 1 Engineer from IAUPR, 3 KHU students CINEMA manifested on ELaNa 6 (OUTSat/L36) 1 st Vibration Test Complete –10-24,26 2 nd ACS test - Nov 2 Environmental Testing - Nov 7 Payload Readiness Review – Nov 18 S/C Delivery - Dec 15 Atlas 5 Launch at Vandenberg Aug 2012

STATUS CINEMA passed CAC and survived NPS confidence vibe!!! All flight harnesses assembled Weekly ACS tests with FlatSat, scheduled with FM ETU Mag Sensor successfully tested with IIB, FSW and GSEOS Flight Sensor and board to be shipped from Imperial Nov 7 Flight spares of all major vendor parts ordered or RFQ out UHF Ground Station parts complete, build underway. Next Steps TVAC/Bakeout Nov. 7 & NPS Vibe Test #2 Nov. 14-18 STEIN instrument detector testing with radioactive sources October, ion sources in vacuum November. Prepare flight unit minus STEIN instrument for upcoming ACS test Post Vibe Test #2: Prep for full functional testing deployables and radios, autonomous behavior driven by FSW. Test UHF Ground Station

Flight(like) Unit #1

STEIN (SupraThermal Electrons, Ions and Neutrals) Particle Detector Progress Flight Mechanical Parts ~80% Complete 2 nd board layout – flight designs complete/out for build. Complete FPGA, ASIC & detector units being tested FPGA coding & communication down to final details STEIN flight software (FSW) complete STEIN module on IIF has started & being tested with FSW Issues Noise issues being worked down. Final housing for STEIN being built in-house Next Steps Test GSE  FSW  IIF  STEIN chain down and back Flight Mechanical Assembly Test the detectors

ISSUES Harnessing Need flight-qualified method to tie down harnesses TX header on He-100 Radio may need to be removed Wire on CALEX came off during Vibe Test MAGIC Calibration matrix still not implemented ACS Need to integrate with more of hardware (sun sensors, solar panels) Thermal Analysis/Environment Launch pushed back to August?! More than 8 months w/out power followed by 6 hours @ up to 70 C
